  • Dredging Plough – 20 tons of steel

    1 December 2025

For decades, Straatman Dredging & Construction has supplied high-quality dredging equipment to the dredging industry. Our core products include bow couplings, ball joints and turning glands. Beyond our standard solutions, we design and manufacture custom-made dredging equipment for specialised applications. Currently, we are producing a custom dredging plough with a total length of 14 metres and a weight of 20 tonnes.

Detailed engineering of the dredging plough

A local tug and workboat company, specialised in dredge support, commissioned Straatman to produce this plough. Based on a proven design, our dredging engineer developed the detailed engineering and adapted it to the client’s specific requirements. Alongside the plough, we designed the hoisting beam. Straatman will manufacture this component as well and supply it with a test certificate.

    A large-scale dredging plough

Production is now in full progress. The main section measures 10 metres, and we extend it to 14 metres using two expansion sections manufactured in-house. The result is a robust and practical tool designed for demanding dredging operations.

    Key components of the plough

One of the characteristic elements of a dredging plough is the cutting teeth. During dredging operations, these replaceable wear parts scrape the river or seabed. This plough is equipped with 88 cutting teeth, designed for efficient and durable performance.
