Production of draghead with turtle deflector

For one of our dredging customers, Straatman Dredging & Construction is currently manufacturing a knife-type draghead with a movable visor. The design includes an adjustable water inlet above the knives, jet nozzles and, for the first time, a turtle deflector.

Straatman has been active in the dredging industry since 1965. The addition of a turtle deflector marks an important step in supporting safer dredging operations in environmentally sensitive areas. The deflector is designed to gently guide sea turtles away from the draghead when dredging takes place in coastal habitats, reducing the risk of unintended capture.
